Every email and text invite goes out with PopIn's name on it, to people who may never have used PopIn. To stop scammers using that for phishing, invites have a daily allowance and event details get checked before anything is sent.
Daily allowance
| Your account | Email + text invites per 24 hours |
|---|---|
| Less than a day old | 25 |
| Less than a week old | 60 |
| A week or older, or with a verified phone number | 200 |
Resends count toward the same allowance. Inviting friends who are already on PopIn doesn't count, and neither does sharing your event link.
New here with a big guest list? Verify your phone number in Settings to unlock the full allowance straight away, or drop the event link in your group chat.
What can't go in an event
- Links, email addresses or phone numbers in the event name. Put links in the description instead.
- Anything asking guests to log in, verify an account, reset a password, or share a code.
- Payment lures: failed or declined payments, unpaid tolls, held parcels, refunds, prizes, gift cards, crypto.
- Anything that poses as PopIn, like "PopIn Support", "PopIn Security Team", or a link to a site dressed up as PopIn (popin-events.co and the like). Links to popin.events itself are fine.
Normal event stuff is fine: a playlist link, a map link, "don't tell Sam, it's a surprise". If something legitimate gets caught, reword it and try again.
If an account trips these checks a few times in a day, email and text invites pause for 24 hours. If you think that happened by mistake, get in touch.
Email verification
You need a verified email to send email or text invites. Signing in with Google or Apple counts, as long as the email on that account is verified with them.
