PopIn moderates user reports, but we need you to flag content before we can review it. Reporting is anonymous - the person being reported is never told who reported them.
File a report
Open the 3-dot menu on the item
Works on posts, comments, events, profiles, and messages. Tap Report.
Pick a reason
Spam, harassment, hate speech, misinformation, nudity, violence, illegal content, IP infringement, or "something else". Pick the closest fit - moderators read the detail field for nuance.
(Optional) add context
Anything that would help a moderator understand what's going on - prior incidents, links to related content, why this is harmful in context. Optional, but it speeds things up.
Submit
Your report lands in the moderation queue. You'll get an email when it's reviewed.
Possible outcomes
| Outcome | What it means |
|---|---|
| No action | The content was within the rules or the report was a false alarm |
| Warning | No removal but a strike on the account's record |
| Content removed | The reported post/comment/message comes down; account stays |
| Account suspended | Temporary ban (typically 24h - 30 days) for repeat or severe violations |
| Account terminated | Permanent ban for egregious or repeat-after-suspension violations |
Anonymity
The person you reported is never told who reported them. They get an action email if their content is removed (so they know what was actioned and why) but no reporter identity is ever shared. We detect and discount mass false-reporting campaigns - repeat false-reporters are treated as bad-faith actors.
Auto-hide for high report volume
If multiple reports land on the same piece of content, PopIn can auto-hide it pending review so it stops spreading while moderators get to it. This is a temporary measure; the content reappears unchanged if moderators conclude no action was needed.
Appeals
If you think a moderation decision was wrong - either as a reporter whose report was dismissed, or as a user whose content was removed - the action email includes an appeal link. Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator within ~48 hours; their decision is final.
Want to block them too?
Reporting and blocking are separate. Reporting routes content to moderators; blocking cuts the person off from your account specifically. You can do both.
For threats of immediate harm, doxxing, or illegal content, contact local authorities as well. PopIn's moderation queue isn't a substitute for emergency services.
