Your display name is what friends see, and you can change it whenever. Your username is your @handle and is more permanent.
How to change it

Open Settings → Account

Tap the username field
Type a new one. Allowed characters: 3-30 lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores. Usernames are unique - if yours is taken you'll see a red message.

Tap Save
The change is immediate. The 30-day cooldown clock starts now.

| Old profile URL redirects | popin.events/profile/oldhandle redirects to your new username for 90 days, then 404s. |
| Mentions of your old handle | Keep working forever. They reference your account ID under the hood, not the text. |
| Old username recycling | Held for 12 months after release before anyone else can claim it. Deters squatting. |
Tip
If you used your profile URL on business cards or other long-lived places, the 90-day redirect window is your buffer. Update those before the redirect expires.
