Deleting your account

What happens, how to do it, and what's irreversible.

Important

Account deletion is permanent after a 30-day grace period. Once you confirm, your profile, posts, comments, events, messages, friend connections, and notification preferences are scheduled for removal.

How to delete

1

Open Danger zone

2

Tap Delete account

You'll see a warning listing exactly what gets removed.

3

Type your username to confirm

Then tap Delete account. The deletion enters a 30-day grace period.

What gets removed vs what stays

RemovedStays (anonymised)
Your profile (name, avatar, bio)Events you hosted become "cancelled by [former user]" - guests aren't confused by missing events
Your posts, comments, reactions, storiesMessages you sent in group chats stay so the conversation is readable - sender shown as "[deleted user]"
Direct messagesAnything we're legally required to retain (rare)
Follow + friend connections
Sessions and devices
Your RSVPs (removed from hosts' guest lists)

30-day grace period

For the first 30 days, signing in with the same email restores your account exactly as it was. After 30 days, the deletion is irreversible.

If you just want a break

Tip

You can sign out without deleting. PopIn doesn't show "last seen" to others when you've explicitly signed out, and you can come back whenever.
