Asking the host a question

Is there parking? Can I bring my dog? Ask straight from the event page.

Every event page has an Ask the host a question button, sitting just under the event details. No digging out their number, no guessing. It works for guests without a PopIn account too.

Asking a question

1

Tap Ask the host a question

On the event page, below the date, location, and host. A small window opens addressed to the host by name.

2

Type it and hit Send

Up to 1000 characters. "Is there parking nearby?" energy, not a cover letter. Viewing a public event without an account? Add your name so the host knows who's asking.

You'll see "Sent. [Host] will get back to you." and the question lands with the host instantly.

Invited by text or email?

Your invite page has the same thing: a Have a question? Message the host button under the RSVP options. No account needed, it's tied to your invite. There's a polite cap of a few questions an hour, so bundle your logistics into one message. See RSVPing without a PopIn account.

Where questions land (host side)

On your event page, open Host controls & guests and go to the Updates tab; the tab shows a badge when unread questions are waiting. The Questions from guests panel lists each one with the asker's name and when it arrived, and opening the panel marks them read.

Questions from invited guests come with their contact attached: "Reply via text: 0400..." or "Reply via email: ...", whichever channel you invited them on.

How answers come back

Questions are one-way, there's no reply thread hanging off them. The host answers wherever reaches you best:

  • Invited guests: a text or email back, using the contact shown on the question.
  • PopIn users: your name is on the question, so a DM does the job.
  • Everyone at once: if it's a "where do I park" that the whole guest list needs, the broadcast tool sits right above the questions panel, one update to all guests. See Managing RSVPs and your guest list.
Hosts: check before the day

Guests ask the useful stuff, dietaries, parking, plus-ones. A skim of the Updates tab the day before saves you five identical conversations at the door.
