You can edit an event at any time before it starts. Some changes notify guests; others stay quiet.
What notifies vs what doesn't
| Edit | Notifies guests? |
|---|---|
| Date / start time / end time | Yes - everyone going or maybe |
| Location | Yes - everyone going or maybe |
| Cancellation | Yes - everyone, regardless of RSVP |
| Title | Silent |
| Description, cover image, BYO details | Silent |
| Visibility (e.g. Public → Friends) | Silent |
| Plus-one settings | Silent |
Material edits also show a banner near the top of the event page noting what changed, so guests opening the page later can see the diff at a glance.
Cancelling an event
Open the event page
From your profile or the event link directly.
Tap the 3-dot menu
Top-right of the event page header.
Choose Cancel event
Optionally add a message - it goes to every guest along with the cancellation notification.
Cancel vs delete
| Cancel | Delete | |
|---|---|---|
| Notifies guests | Yes | No |
| Event URL stays valid | Yes (shows "cancelled") | No (404) |
| Shows on your profile under Past events | Yes | No |
| Reversible | Yes - tap 3-dot menu → Restore | No |
| Use for | Plans that fell through | Accidental duplicates, test events |
Deletion is irreversible and shouldn't be your default for plans that fizzle. Cancel instead - it preserves the record and gives guests a clear "yes, the host called this off" page if they follow their reminder later.
Restoring a cancelled event
From the event page, tap the 3-dot menu and choose Restore. RSVPs are kept; guests get a notification that the event is back on.
