Stories and Throwbacks

Share 24-hour stories, and keep the ones worth keeping.

Stories are the quick, in-the-moment side of PopIn, photos and short videos that vanish after 24 hours. Throwbacks is where the keepers live on.

Posting a story

Add a story from your feed (the "your story" bubble at the top) or directly on an event. A full-screen camera opens: snap a shot with the shutter, flip between front and back cameras, pull something from your gallery, or go text-only on a coloured background. The editor does the dressing up: layer up to four photos into a collage over any background, drag text anywhere, stack sticker emojis, tag people (they get a notification and can always open your story), and open Extras for a two-option poll, or a live event countdown when it's an event story. You can also share an event straight to your story from the event page's Add to your story link. It shows as a bubble for the next 24 hours, then disappears on its own.

Reactions, replies, and polls

Reacting or replying to someone's story sends them a real DM, with the story showing behind your message in the chat. On your own story, the bar at the bottom shows who's viewed it and a tally of reactions. Poll stickers take one vote each; you can change yours while the story's live, and the percentages appear once you've picked.

Throwbacks

A story is gone in a day, but the good ones don't have to be. Throwbacks (in your account menu, or at /throwbacks) is one place for the stuff worth keeping:

  • Saved, posts you bookmarked.
  • Memories, your own posts, grouped by year and month, a scroll back through everything you've shared.
  • Year in review, your PopIn year, rounded up. See Year in Review and Memories.
Stories don't stick around

Once a story's 24 hours are up, it's gone, PopIn doesn't keep a copy. If a moment's a keeper, share it as a regular post too, that's what lands in your Memories. One exception: stories posted to an event can be kept in that event's highlights by the host. You're told at posting time, and you can pull yours out of a highlight whenever you like.
